The Situation
Stuart has been working with the MD and founder of an established technology business for 10 months. The challenge was how to position this business to raise capital to consolidate the production of products and services and to accelerate growth in Europe, US, Middle East, Indian sub-continent and Australia
Stuart has worked with the MD and his team primarily on positioning, vision, operational excellence, marketing and communication skills.
The Win on Investment
Over the time they have been working together the MD has bought in funding for growth (£2m), new motivated negotiators and support staff, has readdressed his management, delegation and communication skills and has been able to hand over day to day responsibility to his trusted management team which has freed him up to develop strategic initiatives.
The business now has sufficient funds to grow for the next two years, increased revenue from new markets and will develop an exit plan for IPO or trade sale. Product and service development is on-track and customer satisfaction is over 99%.
Recommendations:
“Stuart distinguished himself by consistently submitting exceptionally well-researched and well-written reports. Stuart is highly intelligent and has good analytical and communication skills. If his performance in our company is a good indication of how he would perform in yours, he would be an extremely positive asset”.
Ed Reid - National Australia Group
“Directing programmes is a difficult task where the needs of the many entities can sometimes collide. Stuart seemed to navigate this difficult line with consummate ease and maintained his patience and strategic view throughout some very difficult and tighter project phases, never losing sight of the final objective”.
Richard Anderson - Right Now Technologies
The Situation
This utility was at risk of a large (£10m) fine for misreporting on its spending against assets and performance each year to the regulator.
In previous years this utility had reported incorrectly and was subjected to a warning that further reports required a high degree of accuracy. By introducing new quality standards and overseeing the management process of the creation of an accurate Annual Report, Stuart ensured the MD was able to assure their board and stakeholders that no fine was to be paid that year.
The Win on Investment
Not only was any potential fine avoided but a review revealed that costs of production of the Annual Report, were 323% lower than before Stuart mentored the team to produce the report.
“When we were looking for an external consultant to help with a new ERP programme, Stuart stood out from the other candidates we interviewed. We were impressed with his experience, his demeanour, and the approach he advocated. As the programme progressed there were a number of challenges which required flexibility and adaptability on Stuart's part - all of which he invariably took in his stride. One of our internal customers said that he "had confidence in the team working on the project"; given Stuart was his primary contact, this can only reflect well on him. “
Ian Gouge, Chief Information Officer / Author & Publisher
